Thank you to everyone who celebrated the 139th Arizona State Fair with us. It was a memorable year full of a whirlwind of experiences including thrilling rides, delectable treats, and unforgettable moments that made the 2023 Arizona State Fair timeless.
During our amazing 23-day run, over 200,000 plush toys were proudly taken home by Fairgoers while you guys devoured our tantalizing Turkey Legs with over 80,000 sold. The La Grande Wheel went for a ride this year, having spun for 5092 revolutions which is equivalent to about 515 miles. That would be like driving from Phoenix to Yosemite National Park!
We wanted to extend our gratitude to those who participated in Feel Good Friday presented by Sanderson Ford. The Arizona State Fair along with the help from the community brought in 129,212 pounds of food which will all be donated to Operation Santa Claus and St. Mary’s Food Bank.
The Fair is also record breaking as the Arizona Science Center broke the Guinness World Record for the largest object drop inertia experiment on the Community Staged presented by Global Credit Union when they successfully dropped 155 eggs safely into water-filled cups.
This year’s Fair rocked with the return of the Coliseum Concerts Series presented by Arizona Lottery at Veterans Memorial Coliseum. This year’s lineup featured country artist, Walker Hayes, latin sensation, Becky G, R&B legend, NE-YO, and much more garnering thousands of cheering fans.
Arizonans got crafty for blue ribbons this year, submitting over 5,500 Competitive Entries from all 15 counties. These entries encompassed a wide spectrum of crafts and culinary delights, vividly displaying the extraordinary talents and creativity present within our vibrant community.

In addition, the Sale of Champions Livestock auctiongenerated $58,800 for 18 animals.
We would like to thank our Fair Friends D. Miller Charitable Fund/D. Kammrath and RCS for their generous support of our Read and Ride Program. Designed to inspire young minds, reading one book gets you one free ride pass and over 18,900 passes were awarded to these spirited youths.
Here are a few more of the notable statistics from this year’s Fair Food:
- If all the sausages on a stick sold were laid end to end, they would stretch 3.5 miles.
- Nearly an entire grove of lemons were used for the lemonade at this year’s Fair.
- The Fair was popping this year with over 4,000 pounds of popcorn seeds popped which is around the weight of an adult male White Rhino.
- An orchard of apples were sold at this year’s Fair for caramel and candy apples.
- If we place all the funnel cakes sold on top of one another, they would rise above the entire Downtown Phoenix skyline.
As we bid adieu to the Fair season, we can’t help but be reminded of how lucky we are to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard. So farewell, for now, and we eagerly await to see all of you again in 2024!
