Homemade Funnel Cake

Making Funnel Cake

Who doesn’t love funnel cake? It’s one of the most iconic staples of the fair. Our food kits now allow you to have a bite of the fair at home.

Purchase a Funnel Cake Make at Home Kit.  All the ingredients below will come with your fair food kit: no need to worry about searching for ingredients around the house! 

 

 Ingredients:

    • Funnel cake batter
    • 10 oz. cool water
    • Frying oil
    • Pastry bag
    • Powdered sugar
    • Chocolate sauce

 

Instructions:

    1. Mix the funnel cake batter with the 10 oz. of cool water. Because it’s best to have chilled batter, throw the mixture in the fridge if necessary.
    2. Take the frying oil and put it in a small pot (the small pot is important so that the batter stays together when fried). Heat the oil to 360-375°. 
    3. Pour the funnel cake batter into the pastry bag. Because this can be a challenge, feel free to place the pastry bag inside a cup to help simplify the process.
    4. Snip the end of the pastry bag off and pour the batter in a lattice pattern into the oil. (It’s alright if the batter comes out in drips; it will join together while frying).
    5. Fry both sides of the funnel cake until golden brown (about 30 seconds on both sides).
    6. Place the fried funnel cake on a towel and dry off the excess oil.
    7. Once ready, decorate the top of the funnel cake with chocolate sauce and powdered sugar (other toppings work great as well; feel free to experiment and see what you like best).
