Highlighting 140 Years of Fair History with the Arizona State Fair Heritage Museum

The Arizona State Fair is celebrating its remarkable 140th birthday! To honor this significant occasion, the Fair has established the Arizona State Fair Heritage Museum. The new museum is meant to be a tribute to over a century of history that has shaped this beloved event and our community.

A Journey Through Time

The story of the Arizona State Fair began in 1884 with the first Industrial Exposition held while Arizona was still a territory. In the early 1890s, a devastating flood forced the Fair to take a 15-year hiatus. Yet, it returned in 1905 and came back revitalized. With Arizona achieving statehood in 1912, the Fair was officially renamed the “Arizona State Fair,” marking a new chapter in its storied legacy. The museum is a chronological timeline of the Fair’s evolution over the past 140 years.

Admission to the Heritage Museum is included with your Fair ticket, making it an accessible experience for all. To visit, head to the Veterans Memorial Coliseum in the North Hall. The museum is nestled among other showcasings of artwork. Inside, you’ll discover artifacts, photographs, and interactive displays that bring the Fair’s history to life.
