FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Fair Ribbon within Reach
- But Entry Deadline is looming
Entry deadlines run Sept. 15-Sept. 29
Exhibitors...on your mark...get ready...get set...go! If you've been dreaming of a Fair Ribbon now's the time to take action and submit your entry. Although the 2009 Arizona State Fair starts Oct. 16, entry deadlines begin in mid-September.
Anyone can compete in the Fair - all ages and abilities are welcome. Youngsters and young of heart, beginners and seasoned pros alike, can showcase their talents in a variety of areas and vie for a coveted state-awarded blue ribbon. The Exhibitor Handbook explains all the requirements for entry and serves as a resource for closing dates, receiving dates, judging dates and release dates for the entries.
This year the Fair offers two new and exciting contests; Graffiti Art Live! and The People's Tree Christmas Ornaments. Both have entry deadlines of Sept. 15. The Graffiti Art Live contest allows artists to submit mural ideas for a chance to recreate their masterpiece on the sides of buildings on the Fairgrounds. Just like the name says - artists will create murals Live! during the Fair.
You can also contribute to our American heritage and help showcase our talents. Arizona has been selected to provide the U.S. Capitol Christmas tree, the "People's Tree," and its ornaments. The Fair will be collecting ornaments to decorate the "The People's Tree" which will be on display in Washington, D.C. Represent our great state of Arizona by submitting your hand-crafted ornament to be used to decorate the "People's Tree" and various Congressional offices.
Entry forms can be found in the Fair's 2009 exhibitor handbook, a comprehensive guide to the rules and regulations for each category of competition. It's available online at http://azstatefair.com/exhibitors/exhibitors.aspx.
All other entry deadlines for the 2009 Arizona State Fair are:
Sept. 15 - Fine Arts, Creative Crafts & Collections, Culinary Arts (including Beer & Wine), Photography, and Student Art and Technology
Sept. 29 - 4-H, Agricultural Sciences, Floriculture, Minerals & Jewelry
The 2009 Arizona State Fair exhibitor handbook lists all competition divisions and explains exhibit rules, regulations and fees. Participants in the 2009 competitions should consult the exhibitor handbook for entry instructions in each department and category. The handbook also provides information on closing dates, receiving dates, judging dates and release of entries.
Exhibitor Handbooks can be found online at: http://www.azstatefair.com/exhibitors/exhibitors.aspx. Exhibitors without computer access can request assistance by contacting the Fair Entries department at 602-252-6771.
New this year, the Arizona State Fair is offering all exhibitors the opportunity to purchase up to 4 admission tickets at half off the regular price. Tickets must be purchased on-line by September 29 in order to receive the discount and are good on admission of all age groups. They can also be ordered by mail and all orders must be submitted with a paid entry form.
